I abandoned my level 65 Dwarf Priest and switched to a Blood Elf Paladin in World of Warcraft, mostly because the person I play with most made a similar switch. I find I'm enjoying the class a lot more, because it offers a great deal more self-sufficiency. Teamed with my friend, a Shaman, we can easily take on much more significant threats than our Mage-Priest pairing could tackle.
This state depresses me a little, tho. For me, WoW is really starting to develop into a game that has a few completely separate audiences. There are the folk who play incessently, and look forward to getting to level 70 where their _real_ fun begins drudging through all of WoW's instances and raids. For me, the fun is in the journey, and it's clear that "pure" classes, like priests, just don't offer enough utility to make the journey interesting for those of us who really aren't devoted to the end-game.
I confessed to some of my old CoH friends that i miss the flexibility of grouping in CoH. I really only play with one other friend in WoW, even though i have a number of other friends who migrated to the same server from CoH. We all just didn't keep in sync level-wise enough to team together. So, i team with the one person i always team with. She's on a business trip for a couple weeks which effectively means i have to stop playing so i don't get too far ahead of her.
It's a catch-22, i suppose. Advancement is a bit more interesting in WoW. You have to level to advance the abilities you've already learned. In CoH, your abilities advance with you. You learn new abilities, but you don't have to re-learn old ones to make them more powerful. The downside in CoH is you get to a point where advancement loses value.
Well, enough about gaming. I've been watching a lot more anime, too. Of course, I've been keeping up with Bleach and Naruto. Bleach is getting boring. Naruto seems to be getting better. Enough about the shows everybody watches.
I watched the first episode of Murder Princess. I don't think I'll watch any others. It's basically about a princess whose kingdom was overthrown with her being the only survivor. As she's feeling from the coup, she accidentally switches bodies with a very capable bounty hunter. The result is a princess who is a bit more dangerous than the original. An interesting idea, but I just couldn't get into it. It has a rough animation style i also find a bit unattractive.
I've caught a few episodes of Darker Than Black. This anime focuses on people who have "contracts" that offer them super powers. In exchange, they adopt quirks as payment for using their abilities. For example, the main character appears to have the ability to control electricty. When he uses his power, he appears to have to eat lots of food. It is a little violent ... not in the same league as Elfen Lied, but still violent. The stories are episodic. While there appears to be an underlying thread, it progresses very slowly in conjunction with the two show episodes.
My favorite new anime is My-Otome. I managed to catch the first episode in a promo. Unfortunately, since it was licensed, i'm going to have to wait until its release to watch more, but in the mean time i've been watching My-Otome Zwei. I have _no_ idea what's going on, but i really like it. Well, episode 3 may have had a bit too much blatent exposing of skin for my taste, but the characters and story make up for it.
Let's see, what else ... i mistakenly grabbed Kyoshiro To Towa No Sora while trying to download the most recent episode of My-Otome Zwei. This is another school-based anime focused on a girl who has a drea, about meeting a prince. When a strange boy shows up at her school as an exchange student, who has a strange resemblence to the prince, things start to get interesting. A battle between two giant (well, semi-giant) robots ensues. I might watch the next episode or two to see how it goes.
I still like Claymore, tho i haven't been keeping up with it well. I think i'm up to episode 6 and i know episode 10 came out this week. Maybe i'll catch up this weekend.
I also have Kiddy Grade waiting from Netflix and Peach Girl, to Heart, and Gunslinger Girl. Might be a busy weekend!
