Venn Detta

Bunny and I recently teamed up with one of our dear friends, Venn Detta. Venn is a powerful illusion controller who also possesses empathy powers. While Venn is a bit lower Security Level than Bunny and I (she's not as low as Muffy, tho!), we really enjoy teaming with her.

One of my contacts had asked me to investigate a council base in Talos Island. Apparently, some group called Nemesis were planning to attack the Council there. We grabbed Venn and headed in.

Here are Bunny, me, and Venn discussing our next course of action while we search through a Council base. Posted by Hello

The mission started out easy enough. The Council and Nemesis opponents we faced were very tough, but we were managing well. Unfortunately, shortly into the base, we came across a very open room with a couple different groups of enemies. I dove in to try to occupy the biggest two groups, but the further group insisted on lobbing small bombs my way. While my invulnerability largely protects me from these types of attacks, Venn was knocked to the floor. She elected to take advantage of the Hospital Teleportation system, only to find herself locked in a cell in the very base we were investigating! Not only could she not teleport one of us to her location, but the difficulty of our advesaries left her in a precarious position. We had all seen these cellblocks in Council bases before, but had never before understood their purpose.

Bunny, mistress of stealth, managed to make her way to Venn while I cleared out the path of all evil-doers. It took some time, but after a good deal of work, we were all able to regroup.

From that point, taking a bit more care, we were easily able to clear the base of all Council and Nemesis and complete the mission.

Ernesto Hess: Task Force Riddle! (WARNING: spoilers ahead)

Warning: The first five pics don't really contain any spoilers, but if you plan to do the Ernesto Hess Task Force and don't want to ruin the surprise, don't go further than that!

Over the weekend, Bunny was asked by Lars to get in touch with Ernesto Hess. Hess had the inside scoop in something big that was going on inside the volcano in Striga. With the help of a few other heroes, we formed Task Force Riddle to get to the bottom of the Council's plans.

(One - click on the pics for larger versions)

Here we have Task Force Riddle meeting Hess for the first time in Striga. Task Force Riddle was

Bunny - our early leader
Overexposure - gravity controller extraordinaire
Talon - our energetic blaster
Dred - the formidable scrapper and late leader
Muffy - the "outgoing" blaster
Turbine Starr - our fiery blaster
and me - our simetimes tank, usually trying to be in too many places at once

Our investigation started out with some difficulty. The Council were clearly fighting hard to cover up their secrets! We lost Talon early on to other commitments. After some time, Hess steered us towards a series of radar stations to destroy so we could hamper the Council's ability to block our communication signals.

The Council must have been playing with the space-time continuum, because after sacking the first radar station, we found ourselves once again at its doors. We took out the radar station again, and again ... each time finding ourselves back out in front of an unharmed station. Finally, with the assistance of GM's Cyprus and Humbert, we managed to destroy it for good and work our way to the other stations. One more unusual side effect: Dred ended up as our leader after this experience.

Hess eventually sent us into the base where we destroyed some generators and eventually made our way to Archon Sadler, who was over-seeing an ambitious Council project.

We had to proceed without Muffy from this point as she was late for an important volleyball game. So now its just Bunny, Over, Dred, Turbine, and me left.

(Five - this is the last safe one!)

Battling in Archon Sadler in a control room. Posted by Hello

Sadler confessed, the Council was up to something big. And now that we knew where Burkholder was and how to get in to the Volcano, it was time to confront him and his heinous plans to bring destruction to Paragon City.

Don't go any further if you think you may do this Task Force and don't want to ruin the surprise!

We fought our way up through the inside of the volcano, battling hordes of Council while trying to steer clear of the lava.

When we finally made it to the top, we found Archon Burkholder.

After a hard battle, and a few more surprises, we managed to defeat Archon Burkholder and claim the Burkholder's Bane badge, saving Paragon City from peril!

Many thanks to Dred, Turbine, Over, Muffy, and Bunny for a successful forray!

Encounter: Rikti

Bunny LeMans is my near-constant companion in fighting crime. She's a Gravity controller. Recently, she has been asked to do a lot of investigation into the activities of the Lost. This was just prior to our joining Task Force Nova to help Moonfire.

We hooked up with another Gravity controller friend of ours, Overexposure, and hit to the streets. However, near the end of one raid, we met up with a surprise: the Lost were working with a Rikti!

Above: Tiffany wades in to a horde of Lost to confront their Rikti leader. Over and Bunny don't show up in this picture, but you can certainly see the effects of their being nearby!

Above: You can just make out Overexposure and Bunny in the background, as they lend support to me in battle. Of course, you can barely see amidst the gaggle of Lost villains.

Above: The battles nears completion as just the Rikti and a lone minion remain. Bunny and Over are in the fore of this picture, so its much easier to see them!

Being a hero means more than just arresting evil-doers

Some times it means calling on more humble skills, like Tiffany's lifeguard training.
